Flash Fiction: Summer’s End

You know the feeling you get when summer fades into fall? Not the day listed on the calendar as the last day of summer, when everyone mourns the sunshine and warmth that was. It’s the true first day of Autumn, the day you wake up feeling it in your bones. The cooler temperature and the change in the air create a sense of uncertainty and excitement. It’s part of the excitement, watching the leaves change like chameleons, not knowing when they’ll fall. It’s September’s blessings we enjoy, like chunky-knit sweaters, cinnamon, chai, and pumpkin spice. Boots with leggings. Summer’s end brings Autumn start.
