There are things I know I have to finish and get done, but then I tend to put them off to the last moment? I just started thinking about these things this week, because of the Health Challenge, I’ve been doing.
The Health Challenge this week was making sure I drink enough water each day. Each day I’ve gotten up earlier and I’ve also felt more energetic and all because I’ve been watching my calorie intake (food journal), drinking more water, and eating greener foods, less sugars and starches, and last, but not least I’ve done some form of exercise everyday for at least 30-45 minutes along with some strength training to build muscle. It’s also helped because I have an accountability partner and others that encourage me along the way. Becoming healthy isn’t achieved through dieting… it’s a lifestyle change. Through all this, I have found it’s just getting up to do it. Which sometimes that can be tough, but it’s definitely worth it in the end. So far I’ve lost 3 pounds, just from making healthy changes.
While on Pinterest one day, I ran across this saying and it really struck me:
“Never give up on a dream just because of the time it will take to accomplish it. The time will pass anyway.” -Earl Nightingale
When I thought about it I realized how true this was… and if time was going to pass anyways would I rather get unhealthy or would I rather do something about it. I’d rather do something about it. And on the non-health related goal: would I rather procrastinate finishing the edit round I’m on or would I rather finish it so I can start new projects. I would rather finish it.
Here are some things that I found useful this week:
- Schedule Your Time – It always helps me to write things down. I don’t forget things when I’ve written them down.
• Look at your schedule and figure out when you want to reach your goal by.
• Figure out how much you need to work on your goal to make it a reality.
- Bath Crayons – You might be thinking I am immature for listing this one, but I don’t care… haha… really they help. I got some the other day and ended up making lists of things I needed to do, some outlining ideas and issues for my book, and some personal goals I wanted to accomplish. Who ever thought of such a brilliant thing.
- Think SMART – Ask yourself some questions when forming goals.
• Are your goals SPECIFIC?
• Are your goals MEASURABLE?
• Are they ACHIEVABLE?
• Are they REALISTIC?
• Are they TIMELY?
- Find a reward for yourself
• I’ve told myself that once I get to my desired weight that I will take an arial dance class! It’s something I’ve told myself that I could never do. But, you know what? I can… and I will.
