Thoughts on Peace Over The Past Week

“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.” -Matthew 5:14-15

This post was hard to write. Sometimes words come out of me so easily, but then other times when tough things happen it’s like my words sizzle into nothing like water on scorching hot rock. They disappear.

My heart hurts at the moment. I am in pain with the shape that our world is in today.

With the bombings in Boston, I read one person’s comments saying, “I hope it’s a white American who did it.” People have resorted to sending poison in envelopes and packages again. Natural destruction continues to happen, like the Explosion at the Fertilizer Plant tonight. Pilots take their lives and many innocent lives plunging into the earth. What is wrong with our world today?

My boyfriend and I were speaking tonight about the fertilizer plant explosion. I had shown him a gripping youtube video of a dad and his kid in their car watching the burning building. Within seconds a huge crashing noise made the man and his child scream loudly. “I can’t hear! I can’t hear!”

We saw that one of the people in the comments section had written, “The people deserve to lose their hearing and be deaf.”

Something about that shocks me.

What happened to people caring? Standing up and fighting for what they believe. What happened?

That is the problem.

We need to STAND up!

I want to ask… who is going to stand with me? Who wants to make a difference in this world that will leave a mark on the lives of those who come after us? I would rather be remembered like Lady Margret Thatcher, than like our present leaders.

If you set out to be liked, you would be prepared to compromise on anything at any time, and you would achieve nothing.-Margaret Thatcher

I want to achieve something. I don’t want to compromise my values or beliefs just to be liked. I want to make a difference.

My prayers and thoughts go out to the families of those lost in Boston and in Texas! God Bless you & America!

How about you? Do you want to make a difference too? If so, what can you do to make a difference?
