Beta Reader Application

UPDATE 4/20/2016 – This application is not longer in use.

The Mason of Hearts, Writing, Writer, Devin Berglund

I am taking applications for Beta readers. YAY, right? How exciting?

The Mason of Hearts is a Young Adult/New Adult Fantasy book. It is the first in a trilogy. (I’m working on another edit and my pitch/query letter at the moment… but, there is a simple synopsis for you to read, below.)

After having her heart broken, Elfria, a witch with innocent beginnings becomes evil. She throws the world into panic. Dustin, a unique Preventer who controls the weather starts training. The King calls upon him to protect his daughter and unborn grand children. The witch slyly adds hearts to her collection, which she stores in her necklace, The Mason of Hearts. When filled with the most powerful and innocent of hearts it would give her unlimited power to manipulate the world, but something is missing – the ability to control all of nature, so she must go after a certain preventer. Dustin is captured by a stranger with a dark secret – an affectionate bond forms between the two, and they must enter the witch’s game of hide-n-seek with life and death to protect the king’s grandchildren and to save people’s lives or many will die, including them.

A Beta reader is: a person who reads a piece of fiction and helps the author improve the grammar, characterization, and story prior to its release to the general public. All one has to do is read it and take notes of where things are and aren’t working. Where there are spelling errors, or unanswered plot holes.
