Money Problems, Marriage Solutions – Book Review

Life has been so crazy busy lately, but I’ve been trying to read more. I recently read Money Problems, Marriage Solutions by Chuck and Ann Bentley, through a blogging program I’m a part of.

I absolutely loved the cover. I mean, look at it?!! What a cool way to illustrate a married couple handling their money, a blue and pink piggy bank. So cute.

This book was good, but It really focused a lot on uniting your marriage first, and aligning your finances through that. Which is good, but I really wish there’d been more on money management and tips for solving those.

Although I did enjoy where they spoke about saving an emergency fund for 15 months, rather than 3-6 months. That seemed smart to me. Another tip I really loved was that they would match however much their children saved. So that would definitely encourage them to save, which is a really good thing.

But, this would be a wonderful book for newlyweds or engaged couples to read. I would definitely read their other books, but was expecting more on solving money problems.

5 Ways Reading Your Work Will Make You Grow as a Writer

reading, my writing process, writing process, writer, Devin Berglund

I get nervous before reading or speaking aloud.

But, who doesn’t? Right?

When I was recently at a writing workshop I read my work aloud to about 15 other people. I got nervous. Butterflies appeared in my stomach and I felt shaky. If you know me personally, you probably wouldn’t think I would get nervous.

But, my thoughts were all over the place:

Why am I feeling this way?

Will they like my writing? I hope they do!

What if they don’t?

Have you ever found yourself wondering about these same questions? If so, read on to find out 5 ways reading your work will make you grow as a writer. Honestly, I think every writer is afraid of people not liking their work. It’s normal. But, don’t let fear stop you from living or reaching your dreams. (click to tweet)

Screen Shot 2014-03-18 at 12.24.15 PMNote from Devin’s Desk: Please welcome my friend, Katie Cross to the blog! Her new book is coming out tomorrow!! How exciting!??? Let’s give her a warm and big welcome!!

For me, writing a book involved a lot of staring at a computer screen, erasing text, pulling my hair out, and Pinterest.

Oh, yes. You heard right. Pinterest.

The power of Pinterest comes from the images. I always find photos that I want to remember and have access to, so I pin them to a board for later reference. So, I thought to myself, Hey, I’m releasing my first book, Miss Mabel’s School for Girls. Why don’t I give the readers something to look at in anticipation of the book?

So instead of a boring interview where I talk about how great I am, I’m here today to take you on a visual tour to give you a few ideas of what you can expect to find in this exciting new YA fantasy novel, Miss Mabel’s School for Girls.
