Staying Inspired & Fit While Traveling

I just got back from an amazing conference in Vegas. It was filled with artists, photographers, writers, and designers. I had an amazing time! Can’t wait till next year. I thought I’d cover something dealing with health and traveling.

Many people have been asking me, “How does a person stay in shape, while traveling a lot?”

This used to be a major question that I wondered about as well, but lately I’ve busted the answer to the question. Well, at least for me.

Do you travel a lot? For business or for play? Do you feel like you come away from traveling unhealthier than you started off?

If you answered yes to any of the questions, read on to find my 5 tips to staying inspired and fit, while traveling.

1. No excuses

Don’t allow yourself to make excuses. Be true to yourself. After each workout, you are ONE STEP closer to your goal.

2. Think & Plan Ahead

When planning your trip, make sure you look into whether your hotel has a gym.

Last February, I booked a hotel thinking it would have a gym. The hotel in my city had a gym, so I thought this one would too. But it didn’t. I didn’t use that as an excuse though. Instead I made use of what I had.

Stairs + walkways = great exercise. 

This is where a pedometer or a Fit Bit comes in handy. They are excellent for keeping track of motion while traveling. Aim for 10,000 steps a day or more.

3. Track Yourself

Make a daily habit of writing down your food intake and your exercise. This will help you see where you’ve come from and where you are going. To find out more click here. It’s also important not to gorge yourself, while on the road. Eat healthfully. 

4. Just do it

I know how hard it is. But, just make up your mind and go run that block.

The hardest thing about starting – is making your mind up. Besides, you never know… you might see something that you wouldn’t have, before.

5. You time:

Make sure to schedule some YOU time. Whether, that be a bubble bath, or journaling your thoughts. Or maybe your mind relaxes when you take photos or paint. Do something for yourself, so that you can recharge.
