What I Learned By Doing The Grandparent Program

Over Christmas weekend, I hand-delivered gifts to a nursing home. My husband, sister, mom, and Gma came with as well. We dressed up in fashionable Santa hats and came to town to bring cheer, love, and presents to all of the residents at the rural MN.

What I learned…

1. Residents are extremely thankful and just want to be loved.

It was amazing to be there the day before Christmas Eve. We were able to just spread joy with them all. I wanted them to know we cared.

My mom handed out a gift to an elderly man in a wheel chair and he started to cry. At that moment my heart broke all over for them.

I’m so glad we were able to go see them.

2. People MOSTLY, want to help out!
I’m seriously blessed with knowing so many of the right kinds of people. People who just want to help and bless! So blessed.

3. You find out who you want to be like and who you don’t…
Christmas season tends to bring out the best and worst in people. And when you are in charge of a charity, you tend to see both sides.

I tend to just use that as an example of who I’d rather be like! One person I know jumped and said “Oh, sign us up for three!”

I want to be like that! I want to help those in need without worrying about how it’s going to affect me and just know that because of it, I will have blessed someone else.

4. I felt so good after delivering the gifts!

I am definitely going to do this again next year! Who knows, maybe I’ll do it again in a few months! It really felt good to give back!

Thank you to all of my blog followers who adopted a grandparent! It meant so much to them and I’m glad I was able to be a part of this!! <3

Adopt A Grandparent For Christmas

I’m just taking a break from writing out my WIP scene cards for my book. I wanted to come on here and let you all know about a great mission I’m setting out to do this Christmas.

A Family-less & Lonely Christmas

When I was little my dad took us to see my grandma Doris at the nursing home. We always made time to go and see her, but there were many grandparents there who really never had any visitors. That really shocked me. Especially in that time of their life, they weren’t getting the support and love they need from their loved ones. And I know it’s hard and we don’t know everyone’s stories.

One time as we walked into the nursing home, my dad whispered to me and my sister and brother, “Now, remember that everyone here was once your age.” That is a life-grounding statement for a young kid. I think a person forgets that, even though they shouldn’t.

This Christmas I Want To Give To Those Who Might Not Get A Christmas Gift This Year

I’m going to aim at getting 60 gift packages together for the 60 residents in a small nursing home in rural Minnesota.

And this is where I’ll need your help. I need to get 45 more gift packages together so all the residents get a gift for Christmas. So if you and your family are thinking you might want to give a gift to a grandparent then you are in the right place.

The total for adopting one grandparent is $32.25 (after tax) and with that you will be the reason they will be sure to get a gift this Christmas. The gift will be wrapped in a Christmas stocking and will include a Mary Kay hand cream and a mint bliss foot cream. Each gift will come with a hand written note as well.

If you’d like to give a gift to one or five grandparents, I’d love to have you join us.

A Little About Me & My Mary Kay Business:

Last night was my Business Debut Party! 🎉 We had a lovely turn out! I absolutely love the fellowship that Mary Kay creates. My director, Deb, awarded me with my Perfect Start Charm (for giving 15 facials to 15 women), my Power Start Charm (for giving facials to 30 women in 30 days), and my Pearls of Sharing Pearl earrings for sharing the opportunity with 3 lovely women. What other business rewards you like this for a job well done? Now I’m working toward my pearl bracelet and necklace! I want to give a warm thank you to all the ladies who were able to show up to help me celebrate. Also want to thank my mom for all the help setting up with delicious desserts and punch! ❤️ you @aberglundart! And also, thank you @intentional14 for the charms and earrings! I absolutely love them!!

I never thought I’d be selling Mary Kay. Honestly, I never thought I would. I kinda looked down on the whole direct sales thing, which I had no clue. But that’s where I came from. I knew I would work for myself somehow, someday. And I wanted that to be sooner than someday. BECAUSE REALLY, we only have one life, am I right? Continue reading “Mary Kay Fast Fun Facts”

Back From My Blog Hiatus!

It’s been a while since I last posted. Took a little hiatus from blogging. There have been some big changes in our lives and things are coming up.

First off, we got a kitten. His name is Loki and we absolutely adore him. He’s so cute, isn’t he?

Isn’t he adorable? We love him so much. Such a cutie. ❤️ 🐱

He was really little when we first got him. He’s grown tons.

We will also be moving into another town home soon! We are really excited about that.

Last week, we also FINALLY got Johan’s green card!!! It’s been about 2 years in the making. So happy we have that finally!!!

But other than that, we’ve been busy with work. Besides my day job, I’ve been getting tons of writing done. And I also started my own business with Mary Kay. (I know some of you might be rolling your eyes or thinking, “Really?”) I would have too at one time. But I really love it.

I hadn’t ever planned on selling Mary Kay, but when I heard their mission statement of: God First, Family Second, and Career Third, I just had to hear more. Because it seems many other companies out there are always: Career First, Family Second, and God lastly. It’s nice when God comes first and your family.

I also love that they ARE NOT a multi-level or a pyramid scheme company. So happy about that!

In my first month, I was able to do 30 facials for 30 women, which is totally exciting. Here’s a picture from my Business Debut Party.

I want to share my heart with you…

When it comes to Mary Kay, I never thought I’d sell it. But when I tried their products and saw how well they worked and how good it felt on my skin, I thought, “Maybe, I could do this. Maybe I could make this a full-time job eventually.”

I absolutely love meeting up with other women and making them feel important and loved. That is my goal. Whether someone buys something or not. I don’t want to be a pushy saleswoman at all.

Goals For The Rest Of The Month

  1. Get my first team member in Mary Kay. It’s always more fun with other people.
  2. Get 10k steps a day.
  3. Do exercises at least every other day.
  4. Finish changing the POV from third to first person in my current book.

Be on the watch for more blog posts.
