How To Stay Positive Amidst The Struggles of Life

It can be difficult when life gets you down. Everything is going good and then out of nowhere it just seems like a tornado drops out of the sky and turns your world upside down. Ever felt that way? I know I have.

It can be hard to stay positive when you feel anything but happy. But, you don’t have to sink down into the dumps all the way.

To me, it seems when one thing is turned upside down that it’s very easy to have other areas of your life turn into un-stable ground as well. Situations that resemble sinking sand and the people whose words feel like a sword piercing your chest have a magnetic pull on you. In these kinds of situations, you need to tread carefully.

Here are some tips on how to stay positive even when life is hard.

Top Reasons Why You Should Do What You Love

Screen Shot 2015-11-22 at 10.56.53 PM

Love what you do. Do what you love.

Are you doing what you love?

I recently got a new job, which I love. If you’ve been in the WordPress club for awhile you may have heard of them. They are CoSchedule.

It’s an amazing editorial calendar that you can schedule both blog posts and social media posts through.

Their motto is, “Do what you love and love what you do!”

But ever since I got this job, I’ve been thinking more and more about this small and prolific saying.

Do what you love. Love what you do.

I want to always be able to do what I love and love what I do. Continue reading “Top Reasons Why You Should Do What You Love”

Creating A Fit Life With What We Eat

Creating A Fit Life is launching on October 20th! I am so excited about this book. It’s an inspiring book that will encourage you to create your best life possible, so that you can create your best work.

Being fit and happy is a combination of a few different habits stuck together, such as: fitness, eating, and mental health checks. In Creating A Fit LifeI love introducing the readers to fun activities to help them create a fit life.

Eating is essential. Our food is our natural medicine.

Have you ever had food poisoning? I have. It’s a bad experience. But it’s also a good example of how eating the wrong things can trigger the wrong chemical reactions inside of us.

Eating healthy food will energize us.

Start out small.

Set a few small goals for yourself.

Is that to start eating healthily? Or to drink more water?

Make small challenges to encourage your healthy journey forward. I know from experience that jumping into a ton of healthy things all at once can be hard, so that’s why I recommend picking one thing and focusing on that for awhile before adding another healthy habit into your daily to-dos.

For more tips on creating a fit life, be sure to check out this book!!

The Full Time Job Diaries : Week’s Food Preps

Welcome to The Full Time Job Diaries

I just recently got a full time job as an Editorial & Social Media Content Writer at a Magazine here in Vegas. I’ve really been enjoying it.

I’ve decided to do some food prep for my week’s meals. I’ve never done this before, but saw it on Pinterest and other places. Other bloggers spoke about doing this. So, I thought why not… I am going to try it, because I rather not eat out for lunch and am too tired at the end of the day to make meals. I want them ready to go. What better way to make them before and then just have them ready to eat.

So I decided on Meatloaf Cupcakes and Mason Jar Salads. Which are both easy to make and store until you want to eat them.  Continue reading “The Full Time Job Diaries : Week’s Food Preps”

My First Disney Princess Half Marathon

My First EVER Disney Princess Half Marathon

What started as a journey to fitness… continues to be that, but I also accomplished something I NEVER thought I’d do. I ran 13.1 miles. That’s a huge accomplishment, since I never thought I’d ever even run 3 miles. Now, 3 miles feels like a piece of cake.

The most important thing I have learned about
running a half marathon is to be consistent and to…

Another thing that is important for a race is to dress for it.

Dress appropriate for running 13.1 miles, because sometimes certain things will chafe or rub in certain spots. Since this was the Disney Princess Half Marathon it means you get to dress up like a princess. (Or whatever you want to look like.)

Find something you’ll feel PRETTY in! Continue reading “My First Disney Princess Half Marathon”

Want To Run A VIRTUAL 5K With Me? (& How To Tie Your Running Shoes)

A virtual 5k, you ask?

Do you want to get in shape? Then this is a perfect opportunity for you. Look into starting a training session to run a 5k. That is 3.1 miles. If you’ve never really ran before, that might sound like a far distance to run. But, I can assure you that it gets easier and that sometime down the running road you will look back and think “WOW! I actually did it!” I remember when I did my first 10k. I had an huge amount of emotion overflow me as I crossed the finish line. Living a healthy lifestyle is seriously one of the most rewarding things in the world. You can do it. Are you ready?

One thing I learned recently, is that you should always run with your stomach engaged. It works many more muscles and also protects you from having problems later.

Are you interested in running a virtual 5k with me? That means… you will get to run it anywhere and anytime on a certain day.

“Okay, Devin, Tell Me More?”

7 Secrets to Getting on Track After Being Sick

Were you recently sick? Here are some great tips on beating the sick-ness blues.

1. Feel Good Cake *My Fiancé came up with this. haha*

When I chatted with my fiancé the other day. I told him I’d made a chocolate cake.

What? I was craving chocolate & cake. So, I was thinking why not? Right?

My fiancé said, “Oh, so you made a feel good cake?”

It totally makes sense, right? Yes, but, then I resorted to eating cake to make myself “Feel Better”. Which, isn’t good since we don’t need food to make ourselves feel better. Although, it’s definitely okay to eat sweets now and then, but don’t overindulge.

Staying Inspired & Fit While Traveling

I just got back from an amazing conference in Vegas. It was filled with artists, photographers, writers, and designers. I had an amazing time! Can’t wait till next year. I thought I’d cover something dealing with health and traveling.

Many people have been asking me, “How does a person stay in shape, while traveling a lot?”

This used to be a major question that I wondered about as well, but lately I’ve busted the answer to the question. Well, at least for me.

Do you travel a lot? For business or for play? Do you feel like you come away from traveling unhealthier than you started off?

If you answered yes to any of the questions, read on to find my 5 tips to staying inspired and fit, while traveling. Continue reading “Staying Inspired & Fit While Traveling”
