Behind the Scenes of My Business

I am really excited to give a behind the scenes glimpse of my business. I really love and enjoy what I do, and I hope I can inspire you to do the same. To find something that you love so much that it doesn’t even feel like work.

Question 1: What’s your two to three sentence bio? (You know, what the heck do you do?)

Devin Berglund is a creative fiction writer and blogger, photographer, entrepreneur, social media & marketing manager. I’m also a dreamer, wanderer & all-time enjoyer of life.

I love crafting stories that change lives. I recently finished my first book The Mason of Hearts. It is the first in a Fantasy Adventure trilogy and I am working toward agent representation.

Question 2: What’s the favorite part of your job?

The favorite part of my job is that I love what I do. I love helping people do things to make their business shine. Using my gifts to do good and change the world.

Question 3: What’s your least favorite part of your job?

Least favorite part is not having more time to get more done. Or not being able to work on more projects at a time.

Question 4: What are the top three tools you use the most in your work?

My Macbook Pro, Iphone (and the apps), Notebooks & pens

Question 5: What business goal would you love to reach before the end of the year?

To double my newsletter subscription list. I would so love to have you join in on the fun. To help me reach my goal number of subscribers, click here to subscribe and help me reach my goal. For subscribing to my newsletter, you will get FREE STUFF! :)

Question 6: Who are three creatives that inspire you?

1. Lorraine Loots (I just found her, but she is amazing. Her artwork is so detailed. And she lives in South Africa. My fiancé is from beautiful SA too.)

2. Mayi Carles

3. April Bowles

Question 7: What do you listen to (if anything) while you work?

While working, I usually don’t listen to music. I love music, but it usually distracts me from what I am doing. Sometimes I start typing lyrics when I listen to music.

Question 8: Morning person or night owl?

I am definitely a night owl. Too much of a night owl!

Question 9: How many employees do you have and what are the main things they do for you?

None. I do everything myself at the moment.

Question 10: What’s your favorite social media platform?

I would have to say my favorite at the moment is Instagram. I love how positive it is compared to other social media platforms. It makes me happy!! I also love my blog platform too.

Question 11: What’s your least favorite social media platform?

I’d probably say it would be LinkedIn. I don’t really know how to use it.

Question 12: What works best when it comes to marketing your business?

Sharing quality content to build my email list. In a few weeks I will have a post on scheduling your blog posts and getting them written ahead of time.

Question 13: What’s one thing about your business that your blog readers probably don’t know?

I schedule all of my blog posts a month out in advance.

Question 14: If your business were a fashion accessory, what would it be?

It would be a beautiful Vera Bradley bag. Actually it would be this one. Classy, colorful, and comfortable. And if I might add, you can bring it anywhere. $T2eC16Z,!zcE9s4g3I4YBQ9YE!oJ0g~~60_35

Question 15: What’s your top tip for someone who wants to do something similar to you for a career?

Start. And look at your schedule. Block off time for it. And make sure you meet your deadlines

I’m tagging these 6 people to answer these questions in a blog post (via video or text) on their blogs:

1.) Anushka, (she is currently moving her blog to another domain, but I thought I’d tag her at this one) because she is my amazing rockstar of a critique and writing buddy. She lives in beautiful Australia and we have actually never met. We have such awesome Skype sessions where we talk about life and writing. Totally awesomeness!

2.) Kella Campbell, because I’ve been enjoying getting to know her on my blog and on her blog.

3.) Sandra Pilarczyk – first off she has a super cute accent and is an entrepreneur. I’ve been enjoying reading her blog and listening to her videos. I look forward to getting to know her better.

Behind the Scenes of My Business

  1. Hi Devin
I just found your blog today and I love what you do! Really investing to read your answers for this tag and by the way when it comes to music I am the same way and also with audio books I really struggle to concentrate on my work when I am listening to either. Most of the time I have to replay the tracks of my audiobook (because I just blocked out the last 30 minutes of it :D) or turn off the music. That’s why I sit in a quiet atmosphere when I am working. My husband thinks that’s weird :) so glad that I am not the only one who gets easily distracted. Looking forward to you next post.

    1. Hello Carroll,
Lovely to meet you! I am so happy you enjoyed the post. Also glad to know I’m not alone when it comes to concentration and distraction. haha… and it’s so funny you should mention audiobooks!! YES, I know exactly what you mean about that and am the same way! If I try multitask while listening to a book, I also have to replay everything that I listened to, because I didn’t catch everything. haha… You aren’t weird. haha… It’s normal! At least, I think so! :)

Thank you for reading and commenting.

Totally looking forward to getting to know you!

  2. Hi Devin. I really enjoyed reading your post. I found it through the hashtag on facebook – I also publsihed a post as part of this tag. I agree with you about listening to music – I don’t listen to anything when I’m writing. I had to give up when I was studying as my brain couldn’t cope with too much input at one time! I do listen to talk radio when I’m sewing though. You sound like a busy lady with so many strings to your bow, good luck with it all!

    1. Hello Lucy, Thank you for reading the post and commenting. I always love getting to know new people. What is your blog url? I would totally love checking it out.

I am so happy to learn there are more out there that can’t listen to music while writing or working.

Thank you for your kind words. Look forward to getting to know you better. Have a great day!
