5 Things You Probably Don’t Know About Me

Event Image

I decided to take a break from my edits to do a quick update. I apologize that I haven’t posted recently, but I have been in the Revision Prison for a few days. It’s been crazy, because of my deadline. I am reaching for September 23rd!

Keep your eyes open for a tutorial on how to flesh out your characters. Also, this week I will be launching “Devin’s Writing Grotto”, which will be an awesome place to find extra information, tutorials, and freebies on writing.

Awkward moments in Vegas. Leave it to Vegas to show you an interesting time. In this photo, my grandma and I were going to have a picture by the water fountain in back of us. At the last moment a young drunk guy jumped into our photo. I can't stop laughing whenever I see this picture. Can you caption this photo? lol...

5 Things You Probably Don’t Know About Me

haha...
haha…
  1. I love looking at men’s dress clothes.
  2. Ever since I was a child I’d stare up at the moon imagining that someone else was out there looking up at the moon and thinking about me. What a romantic little kid I was.
  3. I love sub-plots. I actually never realized this until my boyfriend mentioned it to me, while watching The TV Show, 24. I was stuck on the sub-plots and didn’t really care about the main plot. I realized that is also the same for me in other books, stories, and shows.
  4. Sugar is the best topping for Tomatoes. Yep, I promise they really are amazing! That’s how I always eat my tomatoes. Slice them and then sprinkle sugar on them. Not salt and pepper, but their sweet cousin – Sugaaah!
  5. I like taking walks in cemeteries. There is just something so calming about it. While I was in England I took a stroll in an old cemetery near the old parsonage where we were staying and was shocked by the ancient gravestones. It’s amazing to see the history right in front of you like that.

How about you? What are some funny things you can admit to?

      1. Because I never fit in and was so different from everyone else that I couldn’t connect with people. It’s still that way to an extent, but now that I’ve “met” so many other writers I finally have found a place where I belong.

        1. I know!!! I felt like I definitely didn’t belong either. I felt like I was supposed to be in Narnia or something like that. Most of my childhood I spent in my imagination wishing I was someplace else.

I know how you feel. But it is so wonderful feeling that “place of belonging” as a writer, isn’t it? When I first found out there were others out there just like me it brought a lot of comfort to me.

Thanks for sharing your story! :)

    1. haha! Isn’t it crazy?
I watch or read something and find myself wondering more about what is going to happen to the secondary characters instead of the main characters.

Have you ever been reading a book that switches from one character to a different character every other chapter? I’ve gotten annoyed when that happens sometimes. I just want to know what is going to happen with that one character and then I have to wait… hahaha… first world problems, I guess. lol…

  1. Fun Devin! Loved the pics, almost felt like I was with you. I was raised to eat sugar on tomatoes too! No kidding, hum. Were you adopted? I love, love, love the sub-plots and also walking through cemeteries. Wow, I think we need to meet up in person. How about you?
I’m a crazy animal lover. Love them more than people sometimes. My dream job besides writing and pet sitting would be to travel the world testing out all the roller coasters! Thanks for the fun post.

    1. Awe! hahaha. :P That is so awesome you like your tomatoes with sugar! :) I think I got it from my grandma. I wonder if it’s a norwegian thing… by any chance were your relatives norwegian? (Did the rest of your family eat it with sugar?)

That is crazy awesome we have so much in familiar. We definitely should meet up sometime. Would totally be cool!

Glad ya enjoyed my post, and I look forward to getting to know ya even more. :)

      1. Just saw your reply Devin! My family is mostly German. Pennsylvania Dutch is my heritage and they put sugar and vinegar in everything! I’m looking forward to getting to know you even more too! :-)

  2. I’ve strolled through a few old cemeteries in England, and I loved them! The backdrop and gray skies were perfect for my creative writer to get going. Also, I’ve never had sugar on tomatoes, but my grandpa used to put mayonnaise. Perfect? It’s the best topping for a tomato sandwich, so why not just tomatoes? (Actually, I hate mayo, but I’ll eat it with tomato sandwiches!)

Loved your pictures! It’s so fun to see that part of your life. Now, back to revision prison for me as well!

    1. You went to England too? How exciting. How long were you there and what for? (I know what you mean about the grey skies and the rain being perfect for the creative writer… it’s actually raining pretty loudly here… so what am I going to do now too? Yup… revision.)

Hehe… Yes, Mayonnaise is the perfect ingredient for tomato sandwiches.

Have a productive day of revision. Glad ya enjoyed the post. :)

  3. I also enjoy walking through cemeteries…always feared it might sound morbid. But I find them peaceful, and I enjoy seeing old gravestone inscriptions. In fact, one of my upcoming blog posts will be in honor of “National Visit a Cemetery Day” and how gravestones have changed over the years.
Sugar on tomatoes?! Never heard of that…but may have to try it.
