4 Secrets To Getting More Steps At Work

If you are anything like me, one of your goals is to get in shape. The beginning of the day starts with a rush through a crowd of cars and then most of the day is spent hunched over the computer. I know this feeling exactly. It really doesn’t make you feel like you are accomplishing any goals or getting healthier. Am I right?

Since I also have struggled with this, I want to help you chase your goals more while working and during the day at work.

How To Deal With Copycats4 Ways To Get Healthy While You Are At Work

1. Take The Stairs

Honestly this has been a lifesaver the past few weeks for me. I have a FitBit and love it. There is a feature that is has, where it reminds you to get up every hour so that you can reach at least 250 steps an hour.

If you don’t have a FitBit, you can set up an alarm on your phone that will alert you to get up and move every hour.

Remember that your goals should be to reach 10,000 steps a day. That is 5 miles of walking a day.

Walk Like An Egyptian: Try a set of pyramids. You probably don’t know what that means, but you will here soon. Start on the floor you are on and take the steps up a floor or down a floor and then take them back to the floor you started on. Then take the steps to the next floor again and then go one more floor. After that turn around and go back to the floor you started. Do this until you reach the end.

2. Wake Up An Hour Earlier

Go for a walk around the block before work. If you have a dog, take your dog with you. Taking a brisk walk will also encourage you to energize for the day.

3. Bathroom Break Jog

When you go to the bathroom take a jog in place. Count your steps while you run. Do some jumping jacks or punching to get the blood moving.

Side note: Drink a lot of water throughout the day. This will also get you walking more when you go to the bathroom. You’ll be moving more automatically.

4. Instead Of IM-ing Your Co-Workers Walk To Their Office And Talk Face-To-Face

This is good for communication as well as adding steps to your daily step-count.

What are some ways that you get more steps throughout the day?
