5 Secrets to Planning A Rocking Blog Schedule

 Do you have a blog schedule?

A blog schedule is also known as an editorial calendar, that allows you to keep track of when you are going to publish posts.

IMG_7900 Lately, I’ve been asked a lot about how I get content up so consistently, so I thought I’d write a post for you on how I plan my blog schedule. I’ve also included a FREE Blog Schedule Printable. It’s a Monthly Blog Planner, which is actually the same one I use.

Have you ever been swamped for time and missed your blogging schedule deadlines? How about writing the blog post the night before you scheduled it on your planner? Or even the day you wanted it to publish? If so, you are in the right place and I want to share with you my 5 secrets to planning a rocking blog schedule.

First off, planning a blog schedule can seem a bit intimidating at first. You want to get content up consistently, but you also want that content to be quality. Then sometimes, you also just don’t feel like you have enough time to update your blog, because of everything else that needs to be done.

1. Your Blog Planner

2. Posting Consistently is Key (but, also making sure it is quality content…)

Take out your life schedule and sit down with your awesome Monthly Blog Planner.

Look at your busy and least busy days. Figure out which days would work best for you to publish your posts on your blog.

I get two posts out a week. One on Monday and another on Wednesday. Sometimes I also get an extra post out if I feel like it.

The important thing here, is to figure out what works best for you & to stick to it.

3. Blogstorm

Brainstorm topics, headlines, and content you’d be interested in publishing on your blog. Make sure it fits your brand and voice.

Note on Headlines: Headlines can make or break your blog post. They can be difficult, but they are one of the most important parts of your post.

4. Pick A Blog Writing Day

Schedule a day where you sit down and write. Not just anything… but, where you write your blog posts.

I usually write my blog posts in my blog on the weekend and then I schedule them for their publish dates.

5. Pictures

They say a picture is worth a thousand words. Awesome, right? That makes our job so much easier.

Make sure:
• Your images are unique and enticing. Those kinds of photos are more likely to grab people’s attention.

• They are pinnable (check out my tutorial on that here.)

In WordPress the ‘Featured Image’ shows up on the right side when you scroll down, near your Tags.

• You have a featured image set (This will make your posts on social media look amazing, because your feature image will be shown when you or others share your posts.)
